TORONTO, AUGUST 20, 2013 – The Cabbagetown Theatre Company presents the fire-breathing production of The Reluctant Dragon - a panto-style comedy for all ages at the 2013 Cabbagetown Festival. All performances are at the Necropolis Chapel, 200 Winchester Street, across from Riverdale Farm. Shows run 30 minutes and take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, and 12 noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
Join twins Kiran and Anya as they thrill to the discovery that their new neighbour is a chicken-loving, poetry-reading, meditationally-challenged dragon named Horace P. The Village People aren't as enthused by Riverdale's new resident however, and ask St. George the Dragon Slayer to send Horace packing. It's up to the twins to convince St. George that Horace is a model citizen, and that's no easy task. There's dancing and singing and a whole lot of "meditating" as this action-packed fable unfolds.
The Reluctant Dragon has been adapted by Kim Sprenger, Liam Doherty and Co. Directed by Kim Sprenger, it features the talents of returning favourites Basil Tamkei as Kiran and Jennifer Monteith as Anya; Stephen Flett as the conga-riffic St. George the Dragon Slayer and Michelle Fukes as the chilled out, poetry-loving Horace P. Dragon.
