Théâtre français de Toronto in collaboration with Ottawa’s Théâtre de la Catapulte presents le fa le do an energetic thriller by Luc Moquin, which combines music and théâtre. This exclusive and unique play directed by Mathieu Charette, will be presented at the Berkeley Street Theatre from October 23 to November 2.
le fa le do follows Albert, an archivist nearing retirement. As he sorts through recordings at the National Archives, he discovers a magnetic tape with the anonymous voice of a young woman singing Fado music. Mesmerized by her sensual and heart-rending voice, Albert is determined to locate the woman behind it. He becomes unwillingly entangled in a wild cobweb of romantic setbacks, political conspiracies, State secrets, and occult groups. Torn between truth and absurdity, Albert will pursue his quest with the help of Jean-Daniel, the “urban cowboy.”
A story of people who love and shun each other, le fa le do is an adventure combining lab research, brain genetics break-through, changing one’s path in life, political satire, thrills, and of course music.
Directed by Mathieu Charette. With Raymond Accolas, Sasha Dominique, Geneviève Dufour, Erick Fournier, Andrée Rainville and Philip Van Martin.
Composer, musical direction: Claude Naubert; Stage Manager: Sophie Ducharme; Set Designer: Melanie McNeill; Costume Designer: Nina Okens; Lighting Designer: Simon Rossiter; Touring technician: Sophie Ducharme; Surtitles: Gunta Dreifelds.
