Stage Door News
The American Dream mirrors the theory of natural selection: the process by which life accumulates random genetic changes resulting in the survival of the fittest. But what happens when you can no longer keep up? Jim's life is on the slide. The medication he sells is causing blindness. His wife has lost respect for him. His friends are turning away. The last straw was his employer taking back his company car. Now all he has left is a battered old Tempo. Why should his life disintegrate while others prosper? And who will suffer the consequences?

Tavistock Arts
Tavistock Arts is a Toronto based theatre production company, having recently relocated from Ireland. Founded by Jim Ivers the company features an ensemble of actors and technicians who are encouraged to contribute creatively throughout the process of bringing theatre from page to stage. Combining original new writing and selected contemporary and canonical texts, Tavistock Arts aims to explore the unconscious subtext of plays and to promote a fresh and provocative approach to theatre: challenging and entertaining audiences in the process.
Jim Ivers
Educated at Trinity College Dublin, Jim Ivers is the founder and Artistic Director of Tavistock Arts. One of many victims of the economic collapse in Ireland, he relocated to Toronto in 2011. His directing style is based upon a forensic interaction with the text so that the ensemble is liberated to explore and release subconscious meaning.
Michael Batistick
Raised and educated in New York and New Jersey, Michael Batistick is the author of three critically acclaimed Off- Broadway plays: Chicken, Port Authority and Ponies. Ponies was designated as a New York Times Critics Pick when it was released as a film in 2012. In television he has written for FX’s The Americans and Dick Wolf’s Chicago PD on NBC. His original pilot We Counted your Knives is currently in development with USA Network.
