SEPTEMBER 30, 2013. After a successful opening to their season with Jane Ford’s dark comedy The Foursome, Sterling Studio Theatre is excited to present a double bill of back-‐to-‐back One Acts KUWAITI MOONSHINE written and performed by Tim C. Kuwaiti Moonshine. A story about Andy, a Canadian teacher in Kuwait, whose life was going well until he gets arrested for bootlegging alcohol. His only way out of jail may be to kill a man. A colossal collision of illegal moonshine, misguided intuition, the Gulf War, regrets, lost love... and hope.
By a Thread is a Dora nominated one act exploring a day in the life of Rose -‐ a passionate, paranoid, performance artist. A letter arrives, marking the visit of an unwanted guest, leaving Rose creatively stumped and on the verge of a mental breakdown. An avid astral projector, Rose must learn how to stay in her body in order to conquer her past and complete her final masterpiece.

By A Thread was first work-‐shopped by writer Diane Flacks in 1992 as part of the Factory Theatre and Crow's Theatre Solo Flights Festival. The second workshop was done as a part of Under the Umbrella Festival in summer of 1992, third draft in 1993 at Poor Alex Theatre and fourth draft was at Tarragon Theatre in early 1994. As Sterling Studio Theatre’s Co-‐Artistic Director Angela Besharah is keeping with the theatre’s mandate of putting new twists on older Canadian pieces, shifting the productions’ original bluesy feel to a more kick-ass, rock n’ roll adventure.
Having just finished performing across Canada as a part of the Fringe Festival, Tim C. Murphy’s original Canadian piece has been getting rave reviews, winning The Best of Winnipeg Fringe 2012. Tim C. Murphy’s first original one act, Blind To Happiness was performed at 7 Fringe Festivals across North America from 2009-‐2012 and was nominated for Best English Play at the Montreal Fringe in 2010. Tim’s original play reflects on the time he himself spent teaching English in Kuwait, keeping with the philanthropic works of he and his family, building schools in Kenya. They are currently working on The Murphy-‐Hull School Project. (http://murphyhull.buildwow.com/project-‐overview/).
