GCTC is pleased to present This is War by Hannah Moscovitch, an intimate and gripping story of four Canadian Forces soldiers in Afghanistan as they grapple with escalating tensions leading up to the next mission.
“This play looks at the human equation in extreme situations and how it affects the outcome,” says Eric Coates, GCTC’s Artistic Director who is directing this production.
“There has been a lot written about the policies of this war but the soldier’s stories on the ground weren’t being told,” adds Hannah Moscovitch. “If morality is the first casualty of war then it follows that soldiers are both perpetrators and victims. They have to make split decisions in the field and then they have to live with those decisions.” Moscovitch, author of East of Berlin, also wrote for the award-winning CBC radio drama Afghanada.
