A midweek rotation of four monthly unscripted comedy shows designed to satiate your inner (and not-so-inner) nerd! From the Star Trek universe to the world of Dungeons & Dragons, and from small-screen video game hits to classic genres of the silver screen - Bad Dog Epic Wednesdays lovingly lampoon your favourite geeky pleasures.
Featuring:
D&D LIVE: Delve into the mythical world of the world’s most popular role-playing game - Dungeons & Dragons - in our live, unscripted comedy send-up. Using actual D&D game mechanics, audience suggestions and the random chance of a twenty-sided die, the show follows the exploits of a group of brave adventurers questing through the familiar-but-fantastic realm of T’rannah: traipsing from the Dan Fort to Little Orctugal, stocking up on provisions at Forthright Ed’s, dodging menace in the Crispy Pits and merrymaking at Sneeky Deeds. Armed with Players’ Handbooks (the show program), the audience will match wits and roll dice against the show’s host/Dungeon Master to resolve crucial challenges and keep their heroes alive and delivering laughs. Will the forces of evil prevail over our adventurers? It’s up to you…
Starring: Molly Davis, Seann Murray, Ted Hambly, Sean Tabares, Rob Norman, Evany Rosen & more.
FINAL FRONTIER: Trekkies rejoice! Last year’s smash hit is back with all new improvised intergalactic adventures for the intrepid crew of the USS Gordon-Levitt. Boldly going to the far reaches of the galaxy… but usually arriving just after all of the action has gone down, the Gordon-Levitt is home to a loveably ragtag team: a human raised by Klingons, a self-consciously holographic doctor, a middling empath, a wholly-conflicted half-Vulcan, and a captain in the mold of all of the great leaders from the Star Trek universe - only, a little less great and a whole lot funnier. Final Frontier encourages the audience of new ensigns to participate and affect the outcome of the crew's increasingly thrilling adventures.
Starring: Etan Muskat, Alastair Forbes, Jess Bryson, Craig Anderson & Liz Johnston
BIG TICKET: Inspired by the best of the silver screen, the Big Ticket features an ever-changing lineup of hilarious genre tributes: buddy cop flicks, romcoms, fantasy epics, political thrillers, sci-fi adventures... all performed live, onstage, without scripts. Each show is a stand alone feature presentation with its own cast & crew. Roll out the red carpet because we’ve got a star-studded lineup of Toronto comedians ready to improvise a blockbuster for you! Gritty genre pieces, high action adventure and passionate romance: custom-made before the audience’s eyes.
February’s Big Ticket is a romantic comedy called Love Is… directed by Alex Hatz and starring Jan Caruana, James Gangl, Ashley Comeau, Carmine Lucarelli, Hannah Spear & Devon Hyland.
THE VIDEO GAME SHOW: The power gloves are coming off! Part live gaming session, part unscripted comedy show, The Video Game Show is inspired by both classic and current console games. Led by our unbeatable hosts Andy Hull (Space Janitors, The Sketchersons) and Kris Siddiqi (Second City, Next Stage Festival’s Throne of Games), this unique show gives gamers a chance to see some of Toronto’s sharpest comedians test their might as they improvise scenes based on fan-favourite video games. Come cheer on (or heckle!) our guest players while they try to defeat some of the hardest games ever designed. The Video Game Show is back after last season’s buzzed-about finale that featured a guest appearance by X-Men screenwriter David Hayter - perhaps better known as the voice of Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid.
Starring: Kris Siddiqi, Andy Hull, Conor Holler, Alice Moran, Sean Tabares, Kyle Dooley, Rob Norman & more!
