TORONTO, ON. October 23, 2014 — Witchboy Theatre is thrilled to present Metropolitan Operas: An Evening of Short Plays by Joe Pintauro.
Set against the gritty backdrop of 80’s New York, Metropolitan Operas features a motley cast of characters ranging from prostitutes and priests to film stars and chauffeurs. Reflecting themes of death and transcendence, the characters walk the line between the sacred and the profane, representing what the Chicago Sun-Times calls, “a lush blend of lyricism and mean streets rage deeply rooted in Catholicism and homosexuality.”
This sophomore offering by Witchboy follows its SOLD OUT run of Brad Fraser’s Love and Human Remains, which was billed, “A killer debut” by Daily Xtra. Mooney on Theatre called the production, “Dark, dense and more delicious than a 7-layer black forest cake.”
Directed by Genie nominee and CFC graduate Trevor Hayes, Metropolitan Operas boasts a cast of 13 actors including Witchboy alumni Clara Altimas, Breanna Dillon, Adam Driscoll, Christopher Hayes and Mark Paci. The production also stars DORA nominee Caitlin Driscoll, Craig Henderson, Trevor Hayes, David Lafontaine, Joanne Sarazen, Ferelith Young, Danka Scepanovic and two-time Gemini nominee Debra McCabe.
