The new Broadway production of the award-winning comedy Noises Off, starring Tony and Emmy Award winner Andrea Martin as Dotty, will begin performances Dec. 17, 2015, Roundabout Theatre Company announced Oct. 24.
As previously announced, the Michael Frayn comedy will be directed by Jeremy Herrin (Wolf Hall, U.K. premiere of David Hare's The Vertical Hour) and will be a limited engagement as part of RTC's 50th anniversary season.
Opening night is set for Jan. 14, 2016.
Martin, a two-time Tony Award winner for her performances in Pippin and My Favorite Year, will star as Dotty. The full cast and creative team as well as the production's venue will be announced at a later date.
According to Roundabout, "Full of shocking surprises and gut-busting humor, Noises Off is the classic show-within-a-show. The Opening Night performance of the farce Nothing On is just hours away, and as the cast stumbles through their final dress rehearsal, things couldn't be going any worse. With lines being forgotten, love triangles unraveling and sardines flying everywhere, it's complete pandemonium... and we haven't even reached intermission! Can the cast pull their act together on the stage even if they can't behind the scenes?"
Noises Off premiered on Broadway in 1983 and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. The original production ran over 550 performances. It was last revived on Broadway in 2001.
