MAHMOUD is an irreverent half-hour comedy about an aging Iranian taxi driver, a fabulously gay Spaniard, and a young Iranian-Canadian girl.
Tara Grammy plays the three outrageous characters.
Mahmoud, a once well respected electrical engineer back in Iran, is now an exuberant, if a bit too chatty, Toronto cab-driver who loves to regale his passengers with his love for Persian culture & lore.
Emanuelos, the fabulously (and a bit flamboyantly) gay Spaniard would love nothing more than to talk your ear off about his Iranian boyfriend, Behnam.
And then there's Tara, the twelve-year old Iranian-Canadian girl, who just wants to be… “normal”.
MAHMOUD takes an exacting look at the political policies that hold immigrants as second class citizens, homophobia, and the media-created stigmas surrounding the "Middle East"... y'know, in the funniest way possible.
Pandemic Theatre is proud to present the trailer for MAHMOUD for the CBC ComedyCoup
