The ICC and the Stratford Festival have partnered once again to present our 12th LaFontaine-Baldwin Symposium featuring cutting-edge creator
Robert Lepage.
Many of you know him as the influence behind Cirque du Soleil's TOTEM and KÀ shows, and Peter Gabriel’s tours, Secret World and Growing Up. For the stage, he has created Needles and Opium and The Far Side of the Moon. He also directed The Ring Cycle for New York’s Metropolitan Opera.
Lepage is also the recipient of The Glenn Gould Prize, celebrating his international critical acclaim for combining diverse media into cohesive stories that surprise, challenge and delight.
This is a rare opportunity to hear Lepage weave our themes of citizenship and belonging through his work, and then add your voice to the post-lecture roundtable discussions with Lepage, John Ralston Saul and the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson (ICC founders and co-chairs).
The Symposium will take place this fall on Saturday, October 18 at the University of Toronto’s Isabel Bader Theatre
Tickets are now on sale - discounts available for students & arts workers

Why Lepage?
“Each year the Symposium speaker is selected for their ability to push our conversation in thought-provoking directions. We need this because Canada is the most experimental of countries when it comes to immigration and citizenship. We are at our best when we are open to original and inclusive ideas. Robert Lepage will shift our dialogue into the enticingly abstract, referencing his work filled with people who are stateless, moving between countries or belonging to several civilizations. It will be fascinating to see where his discussion takes us.” - John Ralston Saul
“I am both thrilled and honoured to be the 2014 LaFontaine-Baldwin Symposium lecturer. I see this as a unique opportunity to celebrate new citizens who have chosen to make our country their own, and to explore how different cultures brought together are shaping our identity and making us all citizens of the world.” Robert Lepage
