OCTOBER 9th , 2014: Making her directorial début with her second highly anticipated play after the wildly successful 2012 run of Hatched, Claire Burns is excited to bring together some of Toronto’s hottest acting talents: Kevin Ritchie (Big Metal Box, Theatre Brouhaha), Lauren Horejda (Hedda Gabbler - Leroy Street Theatre), Karen Knox (Much Ado About Nothing, Single Thread, Sam and Kate are Not Breaking Up -Cue6, Shrew - ROTC), Thomas Gough (Much Ado About Nothing- Single Thread, Bullet for Adolf – Fab Concepts), Mike Tanchuk (A Clockwork Orange, Echo Productions, A Midsummer Nightmare, Leroy Street Theatre), and Canadian film and stage legend Lynne Griffin (Strange Brew -MGM, Black Christmas – Warner Bros, Stratford Shakespeare Festival, The Shaw Festival ) as the enigmatic Jo Tickle.
Master's waiting on a promotion, Slave is downing anxiety pills just to get through the day and Pet's on the brink of anarchy. We join our hopeful heroes on Pet’s anniversary and Master and Slave have planned a great farm themed play party for the occasion replete with hay bales and pony girls but when Master’s boss shows up unexpectedly and a nosy neighbour threatens to unmask our hedonistic heroes and ruin the most important social engagement of the year they must pull out all the stops to protect their kinky way of life. Love, laughter and light whipping ensue.
Developed through a number of instalments of The Storefront Theatre's playwriting series Sing For Your Supper and inspired by real life experiences "Sexuality has always been a good fit on me...A few years ago I met a couple online who wanted me to be their Pet. I was curious. They lived this totally alternative, non- conformist lifestyle and yet they were so utterly normal." Claire Burns endeavors to explore an extravagantly deviant side of our every day lives: Kink.
