Brantford, ON… Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts presents The Nutcracker on Sunday December 7 at 7:00 p.m.
From London to Ottawa, Canada’s Ballet Jörgen will perform The Nutcracker, A Canadian Tradition at theatres across Ontario throughout November and December 2014. Dancing alongside CBJ’s 19 professional dancers will be 10 children from each local community, selected by audition and carefully rehearsed, who will gain professional performance experience and memories to last a lifetime.
The Nutcracker, a Canadian Tradition is choreographed by renowned choreographer and Artistic Director of Canada’s Ballet Jörgen, Bengt Jörgen, and takes its inspiration from Group of Seven paintings housed at Kleinburg’s world-renowned McMichael Canadian Art Collection. The famous Canadian landscape paintings showcased in stunning 30 foot backdrops are complimented by over one hundred richly colourful costumes designed by Sue LePage. The magical dream journey begins on Christmas Eve 1912 in Bisset, Ontario where newly arrived Klara experiences winter landscapes filled with snowflakes, lumberjacks, Mounties and creatures of the woods.
Hailed as, “Adorable” by Michael Crabb in The National Post, and as “a refreshing … Canadian version of this magnificent ballet” by audiences, Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s The Nutcracker, A Canadian Tradition is a national treasure suitable for all ages.
