AUDITION NOTICE – THE VILLAGE PLAYERS, BLOOR WEST VILLAGE
(Non-Union, Non-paying)
The Mouse House
By Robert Ainsworth
Directed By Julian Mulock
Performance Dates: Feb. 27 to March 21, 2015
CHARACTERS (copied directly from script):
CARSON
A successful author in his mid-fifites. Carson is a private, lonely and vulnerable man who has spent all his life trying to live up to the expectations of his deceased father. He is unassuming by all appearances: Carson comes from an older generation, where hiding ones sexuality was the norm.
BOBBY
Carson’s close friend and literary agent. She is in her mid-fifties. Bobby adores Carson and is best described as most comfortable at the poolside with a Singapore Sling in one hand and a cell phone in the other. Everything is over dramatized with Bobby.
TROY
A late teen juvenile delinquent. Troy is good looking, smart and manipulative, yet conflicted with angst and vulnerability: the markings on his arms show visible signs of drug use. Is Troy just a troubled soft-touch thief, or are his motives much more sinister?
THOMAS
In his late fifties, he is Carson’s older and bolder brother. He’s a likeable rogue of a man, but the chip on his shoulder is bigger than it appears. Thomas is a long distance truck driver; his marriage, and the glory days of success are truly behind him.
