Shakespeare in Action is calling on all professionals with the desire to make a difference in the lives of at-risk youth. Step out of the cubicle and into the spotlight and join the cast of Shakespeare in Action’s 4th annual Shakespeare Challenge!
Shakespeare in Action (SIA), Canada’s leading Shakespeare Education Company for Young Audiences will present it’s 4th Annual Shakespeare Challenge Fundraiser in Toronto, on March 25, 2015, at the Historic Arts & Letters Club of Toronto. Shakespeare in Action has opened its recruitment process and is looking for 12 fearless individuals to help support the not-for-profit by raising money and taking the stage to present an abridged version of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, directed by Artistic Director, Michael Kelly.
“Shakespeare gave us the greatest gift – the power of language and words. We want to share this gift with our Challenge Champions and with the next generation, the future champions,” said Kelly about the one night only performance, which includes a live and silent auction.
Participants of the challenge will raise money by selling tickets to the performance to friends, family, and colleagues, with all funds raised supporting Shakespeare in Action’s many youth programs that provide access to the arts. The Shakespeare Challenge sets the standard for fundraising, as participants are showcased at a fun, on-your-feet event for the arts and education.
Past participants have come from all walks of life, including financial professionals, realtors, lawyers, and even a one-time Toronto mayoral hopeful!
“I feel that every adolescent should have access to the opportunities that theatre has afforded me because it really is life-altering,” Lindsay Baxter writes of her experience.
