Robin Hawdon’s Perfect Wedding is a hilarious bedroom farce about a bridegroom who wakes up on his wedding morning in his honeymoon suite to find a gorgeous − and naked − girl in bed beside him! In his post bachelor party hangover, he can't remotely remember her! Worse, during the ensuing panic to get the stranger dressed and out of the way, the bride arrives and the girl is trapped in the bathroom. The only way out of the dilemma is to persuade the best man to pretend that the hidden girl is his girlfriend. Then the problem is that the best man’s real girlfriend has to be kept ignorant of the fact. By the time the bride's parents and half the hotel staff get in on the act, the chaos reaches nuclear proportions!
The play has provoked waves of laughter in literally hundreds of productions around Europe and across America, and is due to be made into a Hollywood film. It is that rare combination − a riotous comedy and a touching love story at the same time.
Robin Hawdon, the playwright, has had an extremely varied career. From novelist and West End playwright and actor, to soap actor, beefcake film star and Hamlet, to director of The Theatre Royal Bath, England’s premier touring theatre, his activities have spanned numerous aspects of the arts.
His first major commercial success as a playwright, The Mating Game, achieved a long run at London’s Apollo Theatre, and has subsequently been performed in more than thirty countries around the world. This was followed by other much performed and published plays such as Birthday Suite, Revenge, Don’t Rock the Boat and Perfect Wedding, and the huge success of Don’t Dress for Dinner (based on an early French play by Marc Camoletti) which ran in the West End for six years, and has played all over America, Australia, Canada and the English speaking world.
"The audience is left aching with laughter...It makes for a crazy, wonderful evening." ~ Bonn Schaufenster, Germany
"The play moves at the speed of light, with a riot a minute that leaves the audience crying with laughter." ~ Hull Daily Mail
