The Young Actor’s Company
Ages 10-13
Mondays: 4:00pm - 5:30pm
•Beginners welcome! All skill levels accepted and encouraged.
•Express yourself using your voice, body and mind! Instruction in song, dance, improvisation and focus is provided.
•Build self-esteem and meet new friends!
•Participate in an end-of-class show that incorporates elements from hip, fun, modern musicals!
The Travelling Troupe
Ages 14-17
Tuesdays: 4:00pm – 6:30pm
•Develop acting and presentation skills at an intermediate level
•Discover contemporary acting techniques such as modern clowning, role-playing, improvisation and comedy training
•Explore a potential career or continuing education in the performing arts
•Create and perform an interactive Kids Show that will be toured around Collingwood
The Thespians
Ages 17 and Up!
Wednesday: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
•Build confidence that can be applied to everyday life
•Refine and explore classical acting techniques and theories through a series of workshops
•Focus on classical script study – learn to analyse, interpret, and effectively communicate Shakespeare’s work
•Produce and perform “Shakespeare’s Universe” – by Peter Hinton

All courses will take place at the Theatre Collingwood Studio Theatre located at 65 Simcoe Street, Collingwood. Courses will be instructed by Mr. Cam Oates, TC Director of Theatre Education
Cam Oates has been a drama teacher since 2008. He has built his career working with youth in the dramatic community for over 10 years, as well as working as a youth facilitator and mentor for close to 15 years.
Cam’s acting credits include: Seussical the Musical (Cat), HMS Pinafore (chorus), Aida (chorus), Guys and Dolls (Sky), West Side Story (Snow Boy), and Much Ado About Nothing (Borachio, understudy Leonato). His directing credentials are equally extensive, and include productions such as Teen Aging, Balloon, A Typically Atypical Day, Still Alarm, Craig's List, and Pullman Car Hiawatha. Additionally, Cam was the recipient of an award for Excellence in Education from his school board during his 5th year of teaching. An experienced dancer, Cam spent three years as the director and choreographer of a Glee Club as well as four years as a member of the Windsor Dance Experience.
As a part of the Stratford Festival Education Department Cam has had extensive exposure and training, becoming proficient in the areas of script analysis, stage combat, voice, movement, scene study, classical study, and dance. A leader in communal initiatives, Cam has developed a reputation as a Theatrical Educator and promoter within the Stratford community.
Cam has embraced his new hometown, and since relocating to Collingwood has choreographed and Assistant Directed the Collingwood Collegiate Institute’s production of Annie: The Musical. Cam is deeply passionate about the performance arts and believes they provide a wonderful outlet for expression and personal growth. He is excited to be working with Theatre Collingwood to promote the idea that theatre has the potential to bring the community together in a rare and celebratory way.
