TORONTO YOUTH THEATRE is calling all youth (aged 14 - 24 yrs) with exceptional talent to audition for our upcoming Spring/Summer season of plays. With NO REGISTRATION OR TUITION FEES, this is an excellent opportunity for young people who wish to develop and explore their abilities in a safe and professional environment.
Info Night: Wednesday February 26th, Lower Ossington Theatre (7pm – 9pm)
Audition Date: Sunday March 2nd, 2014
Location: Lower Ossington Theatre (100A Ossington Ave.)
Time: 11:00am – 3:00pm (by appointment only)
You will be required to perform a short contemporary monologue of your choice. (No more than 2 minutes in length)
A dozen successful applicants will be invited to take a role in the forthcoming productions of “Chatroom” by Enda Walsh or “Citizenship” by Mark Ravenhill, and will work with expert artistic and technical teams to present a week long run of performances at The Lower Ossington Theatre, June 5th – 8th, 2014.
Rehearsals will begin Wednesday March 5th, 2014, and will take place twice a week outside school hours.

CHATROOM BY ENDA WALSH
Jim is depressed and talks of ending his life. Eva and William decide to do their utmost to persuade him to carry out his threat. From this chilling premise is forged a funny, compelling and uplifting play that tackles six teenage characters communicate only via the internet. Chatroom explores teenage life head-on, dealing with suicide and online communication, this powerful tale of manipulation leads to the ultimate act of teenage rebellion.
CITIZENSHIP BY MARK RAVENHILL
Tom dreams of being kissed, but whether by a man or by a woman he’s not sure, and he needs to decide quickly. The teasing and interrogations of his friends leave no space for him to make up his mind on his own, and he’s got no one to ask for advice, except maybe people on the internet. Citizenship is a bittersweet comedy about growing up, which follows a boy's frank and messy search to discover his sexual identity.
