QUEEN MILLI OF GALT: May 27th-31st
Based on a true story, this romantic comedy leaves you wondering what is truth and what is fiction. Directed by David Nairn from Theatre Orangeville (who directed On a First Name Basis for us in 2013), the quality of the set and costumes is sure to delight in this fascinating story! In 1972, the Duke of Windsor (Edward VIII) dies while living in exile. Two weeks later in Canada, an 80 year-old woman from a small town named Galt has her tombstone engraved, claiming to be his wife. Could this be true? Come hear the story and you decide!

Canada's best known playwright has written a warm, intelligent comedy, full of rousing laughs. A hysterical glimpse at the male mind on the golf course when the women aren't around! What happens when four old friends meet for a golf game after their class reunion? After not having seen each other for all that time, they have a lot of catching up to do.

Packed full of great music from the singers and bands you loved, this music-driven production is accompanied by a narrative thread that describes briefly, within the context of the music, the profound political and social shifts that influenced these songs and the times.

The year is 1967; 82 year old Francis Biddle (former Attorney General for FDR) struggles to write his memoirs. Enter Sarah a smart, strongwilled young women from the Canadian Prairies. What unfolds is a witty and touching portrait of two people at different stages of life, who are unexpectedly and forever changed by friendship. Based on a true story and hailed by critics all over the world as a triumph of Canadian theatre, this is a show not to be missed!

Take a trip down memory lane with COUNTRY JUKEBOX – a toe-tapping concert featuring your favourite duos from The Grand Ole Opry to Today’s hottest country partnerships!! You’ll hear Tammy Wynette & George Jones; Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty; k.d. lang & Roy Orbison; Tim McGraw & Faith Hill; Willie Nelson & Toby Keith; Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash; Waylon, Willie & Kris Kristofferson; Lady Antebellum; Reba McEntire; the Everly Brothers; LeAnn Rimes; Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn; and the list goes on & on. Audiences will also be treated to a new duet by one of Canada’s Juno award-winning Mercey Brothers, Ray Mercey, that was written specifically for Country Jukebox.
