Pinchback Productions presents Adam Rapp's "Blackbird" March 14-16 and March 21-23 at Hub14 Theatre, 14 Markham Street, Toronto.
On Christmas Eve in a rented room on Canal St in New York City, two lost and decrepit paramours discover their need for each other in a world that has cast them aside. Pinchback Productions presents Adam Rapp’s off-Broadway love story Blackbird. Eric Regimbald and Alona Metzer portray two damaged lovers on a journey to discover the deep bond they share in a world that has turned its back on them. Blackbird takes place in the crude and grungy late-90’s New York that has been forgotten in the clean cut, land of the wealthy that it is today.
T.J. Cheslea directs this dark and grimy, bare bones love story. Cheslea’s presentation brings to us Baylis, played by Regimbald, a disabled, alcoholic Gulf War vet, suffering from heroin withdrawal and desperately trying to do right by his ex-stripper lover Froggy, played by Metzer. Blackbird is a love story of two people trying to crawl out of the gutter to find that in the end they only have each other.
Pinchback’s presentation of Blackbird premiers Friday March 14, 2014 at 8pm at Hub 14 Theatre running until Sunday March 23, 2014.
