Rhízōma Productions and Sterling Studio Theatre presents COWBOY MOUTH. Written in 1971 by Patti Smith and Sam Shepard in the midst of their frenzied and ravenous love affair, COWBOY MOUTH will feature renowned Indie singer/musician Oliver Pigott (Being Erica, Canadian Idol) in his theatrical debut opposite Sterling Collective actor Danka Scepanovic (Red Bill, Anton in Show Business). Award-winning filmmaker, director and theatre owner Sophie Ann Rooney (The Glory of Living, Interior: Panic, Beggars in the House of Plenty) directs this limited engagement running March 24th to March 29th at Sterling Studio Theatre. Each night will highlight a different musical act from Toronto's indie scene.
COWBOY MOUTH centres around Slim and Cavale, a pair of feral creatures creating havoc and music in a trashed hotel room. Cavale has kidnapped Slim off the streets with the dream of transforming him into a rock star; a rock-and-roll Prophet "with a cowboy mouth.'' Slim is torn between his temptress's glorification of the Bohemian rock life and his desire to return to his family. As circumstances become ever more desperate Slim and Cavale are dragged, biting and scratching, to the feet of the spectre they must finally face.
COWBOY MOUTH is at once sexual, violent, innocent, cynical and hopeful; a journey into the dark and intimate world of two lost and desperate lovers.
