Stage Door News
Thirty years after making the decision to have a replica son made, a father is forced to deal with the consequences as he learns that an entire batch, a number, of sons were made. Questions of identity and personal responsibility force a series of men to decide what it means to be a person.
Known for her fearless political voice and ever changing style, Caryl Churhill (Top Girls, Cloud 9) turns her gaze on the shifting relationship between a father and his sons. Playing as part of The Playwright Project, Cart/Horse Theatre is proud to present this intriguing work by one of the world’s greatest living writers. Directed by company AD Matthew Gorman (Vincent River, This Lime Tree Bower), A Number will feature veteran screen actor Mark Whelan (Love And Savagery, Republic of Doyle) as Salter, and Shaw Festival alum Craig Pike (Cherry Orchard, French Without Tears) as all three of his sons.
Following in Cart/Horse’s building tradition of sharply focussed, actor driven shows, A Number promises to be a thrilling addition to an exciting festival.
