Third Eye Looming, a multi-disciplinary theatre piece, will receive its Canadian premier on May 2 and 3 during the 11th annual Tangled Arts Festival. Directed and devised by Ed Roy in collaboration with Workman Arts’ artists, this cutting edge performance has been described as “a journey into the heart of madness”.
“We are so pleased to partner with Workman Arts on this much-anticipated Canadian premiere,” says Rina Fraticelli, Tangled Executive Director. “Under Ed Roy's inspired direction, this company of performers creates a unique and richly textured multi-media experience.”
Combining imagistic theatre, movement, dance, music, text, and multi-media, Third Eye Looming delves into the mind of a man struggling to piece together the shards of his fragmented life after the onset of mental illness. The performance is a composite of all of the collective artists’ shared experiences with mental illness distilled into the story of one individual. Challenging, dark, and humorous, it explores the precarious nature of the human psyche.
“We are thrilled to be premiering Third Eye Looming with Tangled Arts in Toronto. The production had its world premiere at the Madness and Arts World Festival in Haarlam, Netherlands, in September 2010,” said Lisa Brown Workman Arts Executive Artistic Director. “The show is beautiful and harrowing, and drawn from the real lives of our artists. It is simply mesmerizing.”
