Join us to experience opera with the words of some of Shakespeare's most familiar dramatic moments.
We will focus on six of Shakespeare’s most beloved scenes, and explore how an opera librettist adapts these lines for the lyric stage, and how a composer then sets these adapted lines to great music.
Rediscover the genius of Shakespeare, interpreted through the equally powerful genius of Verdi and other major opera composers.
This course on 'literature in music' will appeal to people who appreciate both the prose and operatic theatres, and to anyone who wants to know more about great drama enhanced by memorable music.
