Toronto Festival of Clowns presents their Ninth Annual Festival from May 28th to June 1st 2014, at Pia Bouman Studio Theatre and The Brockton Collective.
Now entering into its 9th year, the Toronto Festival Of Clowns continues to grow and solidify as a signature Toronto event – an event like no other! This year there’s even more on tap - and a rare opportunity to see some of the best clowns, bouffon artists and physical theatre performers our city and the world have to offer.
“It fulfills a need in not only Toronto, but also the national and international physical theatre landscape,” says artistic director Adam Lazarus, “it offers a jolt of freedom in the theatre. We’re bigger and better than ever this year, combining the classic with the contemporary, the audacious with the irreverent, the viper wit with the warmth of heart, all under the glowing lights of our own version of a Big Top.”
We’re also delighted to announce the Red Nose District – our opening night cabaret hosted by perennial Toronto favourites Morro and Jasp, and a presentation workshop with Montreal’s Cirque du Soleil!
“I’m so pleased that our relationship with Cirque du Soleil continues to grow,” Adam continued. “They’ve been part of the Festival since the very beginning. It’s fantastic than nearly a decade later, we’re still working together to create opportunities for performers.”
Whether red nose, bouffon, character, dance, physical theatre, vaudeville, mime or puppetry, the TFOC pops up out of the fringes and for a limited five day run, sends out a charge of all things electric, magnetic, virtuosic and magic. This year’s lineup includes:
