Toronto, ON - June 13, 2014: Albert Schultz, Founding Artistic Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company, today announced Soulpepper's second delivery of 2014 programming, including a world premiere musical, presentations from community partners, music events, and a brand new Family Festival. After several workshops and Global Cabaret Festival previews, Soulpepper's Spoon River, created by Slaight Family Director of Music Mike Ross and Albert Schultz, will make its main stage premiere this fall. This highly original and moving musical is based on Edgar Lee Masters' seminal poems of the dead. The fall season also includes two partner presentations: A Brimful of Asha from Why Not Theatre, returning after a sold-out spring run at the Young Centre; and Volcano's acclaimed The Four Horsemen Project by Kate Alton and Ross Manson.
Save the date: the seventh annual Global Cabaret Festival runs from Oct. 23 to 26, and will include original productions from Tom Allen, Roberto Campanella, Toronto Masque Theatre and more. Said Schultz of the Festival, "this is my favourite event of the year when the entire Young Centre is animated with dozens of concerts featuring our country's most brilliant artists in an intimate social setting."
New this year, the Soulpepper Family Festival will take place from November into January and will include: Kim's Convenience, home from their successful national tour; Michael Shamata's A Christmas Carol, a Soulpepper holiday favourite; The Conjuror by Canadian master magician David Ben; a new Family Salon concert; and additional free family programming.
Tickets for the new programming go on sale to Soulpepper subscribers on June 17 at 1 p.m. and on public sale June 24. Tickets for previously announced 2014 fall programming including Tartuffe, A Tender Thing, Glenn and The Crucible are on sale now, as are Soulpepper's summer shows, Angels in America, Twelve Angry Men and Borne. SPOON RIVER
Edgar Lee Masters' seminal poems of the dead are brought to vibrant life in this musical adaptation. Become immersed in the world of Spoon River, a slice of rural America, as residents of the town narrate their own epitaphs, telling of their lives, loves, losses, and truths. The cast includes Soulpepper Founding Members Stuart Hughes, Diego Matamoros and Nancy Palk; Soulpepper Academy Members Frank Cox-O'Connell, Mikaela Davies, Peter Fernandes, Katherine Gauthier, Hailey Gillis, Gordon Hecht, Richard Lam, Oyin Oladejo and Colin Palangio; Soulpepper Academy Graduates Raquel Duffy, Gregory Prest, Mike Ross and Brendan Wall; and Oliver Dennis and Miranda Mulholland.
Spoon River runs from Oct. 29 - Nov. 15; opening night is Nov. 4.

After selling out the Young Centre this past spring, Ravi Jain's original Canadian comedy returns for a limited run! Award-winning actor, director, and producer Jain shares the stage with his real-life mother, Asha, in A Brimful of Asha - a funny and touching story of family, arranged marriage, and the quest for the perfect bride.
A Brimful of Asha runs from Oct. 7 - Oct. 11.
THE FOUR HORSEMEN PROJECT
VOLCANO in association with Crooked Figure Dances and Global Mechanic
The Four Horsemen Project by Kate Alton and Ross Manson with musical direction by 2014 Soulpepper Resident Artist John Millard is a multidisciplinary extravaganza featuring swirling animation and sonic high jinks making the poetry of Canada's 1970s avant-garde scene leap off the page and onto the stage. The show is based on the poetry of The Four Horsemen: Rafael Barreto-Rivera; bpNichol; Paul Dutton; and Steve McCaffery; and features Jennifer Dahl, Graham McKelvie, Naoko Murakoshi, and 2014 Soulpepper Resident Artist Andrea Nann.
The Four Horsemen Project runs from Nov. 6 - Nov. 22.
GLOBAL CABARET FESTIVAL

The seventh annual Global Cabaret Festival will once again assemble some of Canada's most exciting and dynamic performers for a weekend-long festival bursting with songs, stories, and ideas. This year's Festival will include original productions from Tom Allen, Roberto Campanella, Toronto Masque Theatre and many more. Over 100 artists will perform in the intimate settings of the Young Centre for what the Toronto Star calls "One of the best things to happen in Toronto all year! A joyous celebration of the incredible talent in this city."

SOULPEPPER'S WEEKLY CABARET SERIES
Soulpepper's new series of weekly cabarets continues at the Young Centre every Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. Each Cabaret runs for approximately 90 minutes and features a different guest artist or ensemble in an intimate and conversational setting.

SOULPEPPER FAMILY FESTIVAL
From November into January Soulpepper has a full slate of family programming that is perfect for all ages. Along with the celebrated production of A Christmas Carol and the homecoming of Kim's Convenience, the magical genius of David Ben can be experienced in The Conjuror. A Holiday Family Music Salon and additional free programming will be announced at a later date. The Family Festival is presented by CIBC with support from the province of Ontario.
KIM'S CONVENIENCE After a whirlwind National Tour which included stops in Ontario (London, Hamilton, and Port Hope), Manitoba (Winnipeg), Alberta (Calgary and Edmonton), and British Columbia (Vancouver), Soulpepper is thrilled to welcome Ins Choi's Kim's Convenience home to Toronto.
Kim's Convenience runs from Nov. 27 - Dec. 28.
A CHRISTMAS CAROL
Soulpepper's beloved production of Michael Shamata's A Christmas Carol has become a Toronto holiday tradition. Share the classic Dickens tale with your loved ones, and watch as Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts who help him understand the importance of charity in the holiday season. Directed by Michael Shamata, the cast includes: Kevin Bundy; Oliver Dennis; Deborah Drakeford; Maggie Huculak; John Jarvis; Gregory Prest; and Joseph Ziegler as Ebenezer Scrooge.
A Christmas Carol runs from Nov. 27 - Dec. 27.
