FESTIVAL PLAYERS OF PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY eighth season of professional live theatre continues with Radio :30 at the Mount Tabor Playhouse, the return of Festival Players for Families, the opening of Test Drive, and a one-night only comedic magic show at the Sunday Series @ Huff Estates.
ON NOW TO SATURDAY, AUGUST 2
The two-week run of Radio :30 continues until Saturday, August 2 at Mount Tabor Playhouse in Milford, Ontario. Directed by Shari Hollett, Radio :30 is a dark comedy about a radio actor who comes unglued in the recording studio. Playwright Chris Earle (Second City alumnus) stars as discouraged radio personality Ron, and Sam Earle (Degrassi: The Next Generation, and the son of both the playwright and director) plays Mike, the faithful recording engineer.
Following most performances of Radio :30, audiences are invited to join 99.3 FM, the County’s community radio station, in the theatre for a live recording with a local storyteller, which will be aired on the station when it launches in the fall.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 1
The opening performance for this summer’s Festival Players for Families show, All for Beaver Hats!, will take place Friday, August 1 at 11am at Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Co. in Cressy, Ontario. All for Beaver Hats! by David S. Craig hilariously portrays three hundred years of Canadian history in forty-five minutes.
All for Beaver Hats! will tour throughout Prince Edward County August 1-24, 2014 with stops at Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Co., Ameliasburgh Historical Museum, Campbell’s Orchards in Rednersville, Sandbanks Summer Village in Cherry Valley and in Bloomfield as part of Live in Bloomfield – A Festival of Theatre and Other Delights.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6
Test Drive opens Wednesday, August 6 under the Grand Tent at Rosehall Run Vineyards in Wellington, Ontario. Artistic Director Sarah Phillips takes the wheel as director for Test Drive, the life and times of a car salesman. Earl loves his wife, children and cars – and not always in that order. He also considers his life to be resoundingly ordinary, except that every ten years or so he sets out on a test drive that rocks his world.
The County's newest food truck, PICNIC, will be on site serving up fresh, local food at every performance.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 10
The Sunday Series @ Huff Estates will continue with Parsons & Morel Make Magic on Sunday, August 10 at 7pm in the Huff Estates Tasting Room. Jenny Parsons (from Festival Players’ Harvest) returns to the County with her award-winning partner Steve Morel to perform their Canadian Comedy Award nominated show.
FESTIVAL PLAYERS OF PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY is a professional summer theatre company led by Artistic Director Sarah Phillips. For eight years, Festival Players has brought the beautiful landscapes, towns and villages of Prince Edward County, affectionately called The County, to life through the incredible power of theatre.
