Due to popular demand, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre is expanding its QueerCab schedule. The youth open-mic night will now take place all year round on the first Wednesday of every month in Buddies’ Cabaret space.
Welcoming thousands of participants over its ten year history, QueerCab has become an important event for young queer artists. Lead by community leader and performer Chy Ryan Spain, QueerCab provides a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ youth to explore their artistic potential.
QueerCab audiences can expect something different at every show: music, spoken word, monologues, dance, drag, songs, scenes, stand-up, burlesque, videos, magic tricks, performance art, juggling, rants… Anything goes at QueerCab and everyone is welcome. For performers, QueerCab is a great place to try out something new, showcase talent, get inspired, and to meet other young queer artists.
QueerCab is a part of Buddies’ Queer Youth Arts Program, which includes the Young Creators Unit, PrideCab, and the Queer Emerging Artist Award. These programs are made possible by funding from TD Bank Group.
INFORMATION ABOUT QUEERCAB
QueerCab is Buddies’ monthly youth open-mic night. This is your chance to share your special talent, or even make your stage debut, in front of a warm and supportive audience. No experience? No problem. Each month comes with a specific theme, meant to inspire and guide, but there you don’t have to use it!
Every performer gets 5 minutes on stage. We’ve got a microphone, a CD player, a video projector and a piano – and you’ve got the talent! Come show us what you can do. Performer sign up is at 7:30, show starts at 8 pm.
