Toronto, ON - July 8, 2014: Albert Schultz, Founding Artistic Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company, today released details about Soulpepper's August and September programming including the casting for Glenn. Brent Carver, Jeff Lillico, Mike Ross and Steven Sutcliffe will portray four sides of renowned Canadian pianist Glenn Gould in David Young's celebrated play. Other upcoming shows include Molière's Tartuffe, Ben Power's A Tender Thing, and the return of Soulpepper's acclaimed production of The Crucible by Arthur Miller.
A new July concert has also been announced as part of the Soulpepper Salon Series. New York City! A 20th-Century Musical Ride will take place on July 11 and 15 at the Young Centre, featuring Troy Adams, Damien Atkins, David Cox, Peter Fernandes, Hailey Gillis, Judith Lander, Patricia O'Callaghan and Jackie Richardson.
Continuing Soulpepper summer productions include: Tony Kushner's Angels in America (on stage until July 12); Judith Thompson's Borne (on stage until July 19); and Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose, which has been extended to July 26. Visit soulpepper.ca for tickets and show times.
Soulpepper continues to have a national touring presence. This summer's touring productions include Albert Schultz's Frankly, Sinatra at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope, ON from July 17-19 (capitoltheatre.com) and Ins Choi's Kim's Convenience at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, AB opening in September (citadeltheatre.com).
TARTUFFE
MOLIÈRE, TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH VERSE BY RICHARD WILBUR
In one of the greatest comedies ever written, the sanctimonious Tartuffe feigns virtue and piety to deceive his host Orgon and seduce Orgon’s wife in the hopes of gaining an inheritance. László Marton directs this deeply humourous tale of lust, religious hypocrisy and the triumph of good over evil. The cast includes Soulpepper Founding Member Diego Matamoros as Tartuffe, with Soulpepper Founding Member William Webster, Frank Cox-O'Connell, Mikaela Davies, Oliver Dennis, Raquel Duffy, Peter Fernandes, Katherine Gauthier, Gordon Hecht, Oyin Oladejo, Colin Palangio, Gregory Prest and Brenda Robins.
Tartuffe runs from August 7 to September 20; opening night is August 12.
A TENDER THING

In this deeply moving re-working of Shakespeare's text, an elderly Romeo and Juliet reminisce on their lives together, revelling in the joys of love while charting a course through the inevitable passage of time, aging, and the final stages of life. Soulpepper Founding Members Nancy Palk and Joseph Ziegler are directed by Michael Shamata.
A Tender Thing runs from August 14 to October 1; opening night is August 19.

Prodigy, Perfectionist, Performer and Puritan: The iconic Canadian artist Glenn Gould. Glenn is a fascinating and moving look at the music and mythology of an eternally captivating figure. Framed by Gould's two definitive versions of Bach's The Goldberg Variations, Young uses a theme-and-variation compositional structure to examine the arc of the Gould's life and the breadth of his character. Soulpepper Founding Member Diana Leblanc directs Brent Carver, Jeff Lillico, Mike Ross and Steven Sutcliffe.
Glenn runs from August 26 to October 1. Opening night is September 2.

SOULPEPPER SALON: NEW YORK CITY! A 20TH-CENTURY MUSICAL RIDE
Join Soulpepper for an exciting concert travelogue full of joyous and evocative music, dance and storytelling. This musical ride is heading north through Manhattan with many stops along the way: Greenwich Village, Tin Pan Alley, 42nd Street, Carnegie Hall, Central Park and many more. Final stop: Harlem! Slaight Family Director of Music Mike Ross drives the musical train and Albert Schultz acts as the tour guide. The cast includes Troy Adams, Damien Atkins, Peter Fernandes, Hailey Gillis, Judith Lander, Patricia O’Callaghan and Jackie Richardson. Tap dance phenom David Cox will also be jumping on board.

SOULPEPPER'S WEEKLY CABARET SERIES
Soulpepper's series of weekly cabarets continues at the Young Centre every Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. Each Cabaret runs for 60-90 minutes and features a different guest artist or ensemble in an intimate and conversational setting.

The Cameco Capitol Arts Centre in Port Hope and Soulpepper present Albert Schultz's Frankly, Sinatra, a world premiere performance by Schultz backed by some of Canada's finest musicians including Colleen Allen, Brian Barlow, Steve Crowe, Steve Hunter and David Young. Watch as Schultz explores and celebrates the complex and brilliant man from Hoboken with a personal journey in words and music.
