Young People’s Theatre is thrilled to welcome the internationally-acclaimed Québec theatre company Tout à Trac and their breath-taking production of Pinocchio. Interweaving dance, puppetry, music and illusion at breakneck speed, writer/director Hugo Bélanger whips up a show that’s as imaginative as Geppeto himself ... and just as heartfelt as the kindly old woodcarver. Pinocchio will be presented on the Mainstage from March 3rd to 21st, with added performances during March Break from the 15th to the 21st.
Born from a talking piece of wood carved by old Geppetto, the rebellious Pinocchio embarks on a series of hair-raising adventures and jaw-dropping trials in his quest to earn his heart’s desire. It’s a story that still resonates today, perhaps even more than it did when it debuted in 1883. As Hugo Bélanger says, “We still need Pinocchio because telling the story of a small block of wood dreaming to become human brings hope to a world that is losing its humanity and becoming increasingly dependent on machines.”
