The Great Canadian Theatre Company kicks off 2015 with Moss Park by George F. Walker. This production comes from Vancouver’s Green Thumb Theatre and it is rife with all the wit, anger, belly laughs and heartache that are the trademarks of George F. Walker’s work. Directed by former GCTC Artistic Director, Patrick McDonald, this fast-paced comedy stars Vancouver actors Graeme McComb and Emma Slipp. January 20 – February 8, 2015. Tickets are on sale now at GCTC’s Box Office at 1233 Wellington West at Holland, 613-236-5196 or www.gctc.ca.
Bobby and Tina, with baby in tow, have no prospects and no money. Recently separated, they go head-to-head in a last-ditch attempt to figure out their future that doesn’t include poverty or jail. In this dark comedy, you will root for and be exasperated by Bobby and Tina who are up against tough choices and a lifetime of being poor.
“What’s so funny about poverty? Well, if you’re George F. Walker, you find laughter in the darkness,” says Artistic Director Eric Coates. “George is a ferocious playwright who isn’t afraid to challenge our assumptions about people who live on the margins. His writing is compassionate, angry and very, very funny.”
