Young People’s Theatre (YPT) has been overwhelmed by public response to the musical, Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang, announcing today the run would be extended due to demand. Originally slated to run from November 16th to December 20th, the show will now run right through the holidays, to January 3rd. A signature production in YPT’s history, this action-packed musical – the company’s most-produced show and amongst its most beloved – will feature new music and lyrics by the talented young song-writing duo, Britta and Anika Johnson.
This rollicking adventure story returns for YPT’s 50th Anniversary Season, arriving just in time for the 40th anniversary of the book by renowned Canadian author Mordecai Richler. Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang will feature Damien Atkins in the role of notorious villain, The Hooded Fang, and two school chums, David Gregory Black and Drew Davis (ages 12 and 11, respectively), alternating the role of Jacob Two-Two.
Jacob is certain no one ever listens to him, especially his two older brothers, his two older sisters, and even his two distracted parents, so he develops the habit of saying everything twice. Jacob's trademark repetitiveness eventually lands him afoul of the law and into the fantastical children's court of Mr. Justice Rough. Sentenced to hard time on foggy, snake-infested Slimer's Island, Jacob falls under the menacing eye of dreaded warden The Hooded Fang and must plot his escape with the help of a heroic squad ofolder children known as Child Power!
Co-Directed by Allen MacInnis and Jen Shuber. Featuring Damien Atkins, Darrin Baker, David Gregory Black, Matthew G. Brown, Drew Davis, Saccha Dennis, Sarah Gibbons, Kira Guloien, Jacob MacInnis, Jeigh Madjus, Robert Markus and Sabryn Rock.
