Open Office Hours – Canadian Edition is a new Ontario initiative, launched by Catherine Ballachey (Ottawa) and Emma Mackenzie Hillier (Toronto). Based on the successful Open Office Hours in the United States, created by Jeremy Stoller (New York City) and joined by Catherine Rodriguez (Baltimore/DC) and Amy E. Freeman (Philadelphia).
Free and open to anyone, the project is designed to provide resources to playwrights, actors, directors, devisers, and any other theater artists who feel they could benefit from speaking with a dramaturg. Artists are encouraged to stop by with questions about research, project brainstorming, play structure, script submission, development processes, text analysis, theatrical canon; personal statements; or simply to discuss their work with some interested colleagues.
We recognize that the term “dramaturg” often elicits a groan or the question “what do you do exactly?” from artists. Answering that question can be difficult, as the job can range from anything from research of a topic to play analysis to program notes. So join Catherine in Ottawa at the GCTC or Emma in Toronto at the Toronto Metro Reference Library (1st floor) and we’ll answer those questions and many more.
All sessions run from 2pm to 4pm on the following schedule:
Monday, November 9, 2015
Monday, November 16, 2015
Monday November 23, 2015
Monday, November 30, 2015
