Toronto, ON – November 12, 2015: timeshare productions today announced that Rob Kempson’s newest play, Mockingbird, will receive its world premiere at the Next Stage Theatre Festival (NSTF) in Toronto from January 6 to 17, 2016 at the Factory Theatre Mainspace, 125 Bathurst St.
When we first meet the English Department of Finch Park Collegiate, rumours are flying about a teacher-student relationship. Two days later, Mr. Foster has been removed from the school. Part of Kempson’s series The Graduation Plays, Mockingbird explores what happens when innocence meets authority, and the grey area between right and wrong. Mockingbird follows Kempson’s critically-acclaimed sold-out run of SHANNON 10:40 at Videofag.
“We’re constantly confronted with new norms and new rules about sexuality and gender and the way that those identities intersect in a rigid school environment,” said Kempson. “This play is about a specific group of people in a high school setting and what happens when scandal erupts. These are stories that need to be told because we are talking about the curriculum, and about consent, and about education. One of the most beautiful things in life and in theatre comes when we don’t have a clear sense of right and wrong.”
Mockingbird, an original Canadian work written and directed by Rob Kempson, features an outstanding 11-person ensemble: Tess Degenstein; Beau Dixon; Margaret Evans; James Graham; Stephen Jackman-Torkoff; Esther Jun; Andrew Moodie; Rahnuma Panthaky; Andrew Pimento; Kaitlyn Riordan; and Paula Wing.
The design team is comprised of Brandon Kleiman (Set and Costume Design), Michelle Ramsay (Lighting Design) and Lyon Smith (Sound Design).
Tickets to Mockingbird are available for $15 as of noon on November 16, 2015. Contact the Next Stage Box Office for more information at 416-966-1062 or visit fringetoronto.com. All online and phone sales will be subject to a $2 order fee. Book before December 1 and save 15%.

timeshare is very specifically an un-company. We are an artist collective, seeking to support one another in the creation, development, and production of new work. We don’t believe in defining ourselves by the kind of work that we make, who it is for, or how often it is made. Our work is about discovery and the creation of opportunity.
The Next Stage Theatre Festival (NSTF) is the premier winter theatre event in Toronto. Produced by the Toronto Fringe, NSTF is a platform for past Fringe artists to take groundbreaking work to the next level – and a gathering place for discerning culture lovers in the city.
