Get ready to be intelligently-entertained with Elizabeth-Darcy: An Adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, a shoe-in for your holiday season festivities in Toronto. After a successful tour across Eastern Ontario, the critically-acclaimed theatre event that NOW Magazine calls “a delight”, makes its way back to Toronto this December inside the beautiful Campbell House.
Hallie Burt and Kate Werneburg - two virtuosic actors - return to reprise their roles, in this gender-bending rendition of a Jane Austen classic - but with a squeeze of lemon! It’s a love story, and comedy that continues to entertain audiences in all parts of Ontario. With its ongoing success this roving play is now a seasonal traditional at the Campbell House. Moving from room-to-room in this site-specific work, prepare to be swept away by their playful and brilliant take on Pride and Prejudice while remaining true to the spirit of Austen’s classic novel. Burt and Werneburg are thrilled to share the magic of the show with an ever-growing audience who have made Elizabeth-Darcy a new tradition of their own:
“We constantly hear from people who are excited to see our next run, which is thrilling and humbling for us. Some audience members keep coming back again and again, it's become a tradition of their own. Elizabeth-Darcy is an intimate experience by design, and we're excited to share it with people who are here for the first or the fourth time."
Not be forgotten, Campbell House is also a character in its own right. Playing an important role in the work, the Regency museum provides the perfect setting of regality for Elizabeth-Darcy.
The ongoing achievement and acclaim of this spellbinding work keeps the motor running for Elizabeth-Darcy. The production has toured to Napanee, Kingston and Perth, and returns to the Campbell House for its fourth presentation, including its third holiday appearance. It received 4 Ns from NOW Magazine and garnered mentions from the same publication for Outstanding Ensemble and Outstanding Direction. Not to be missed!
