Gilbert loves Anne of Green Gables – and so will you!
Just in time for the holidays, NAC English Theatre presents Lucy Maud Montgomery’s continuing story of Anne Shirley in this fun and heartwarming musical for the whole family.
Based on the second and third novels of Montgomery’s beloved series, the story is set in the village of Avonlea and at Redmond College in Halifax. Anne is now an ambitious young woman about to begin her first teaching job. Romantic complications abound when childhood sweetheart Gilbert Blythe proposes marriage – but he's not her only suitor. Can Anne find true happiness?
Featuring over 20 artists on stage, the play brings together members of the 2015/16 NAC Ensemble with artists who have previously been featured in the Prince Edward Island production, including Ellen Denny and Alex Furber, who have both previously portrayed the roles of Anne and Gilbert respectively. The musical also welcomes twelve local child actors from across the Ottawa region to round out the cast.
East Coast Music Award-winning songs and classic, well-loved characters make this sophisticated made-in-Canada musical perfect for our national stage this holiday season.
