Stage Door News
November 4th, 2015 (Toronto, ON) – Calling all lovers of fine lingerie and those obsessed with closet purging. Obsidian Theatre Company, Canada's leading culturally diverse theatre company, is giving Torontonians the opportunity to get out with the old and in with the new. Announcing a new casting call for its 2015-2016 season, the theatre company isn’t looking for experienced actors – instead it is looking for gently used bras that will make their stage debut in the upcoming world premiere of Venus’ Daughter.
Torontonians wishing to give their old brassieres a chance at fame are invited to visit one of the three sanctioned drop-off locations: Buddies In Bad Times Theatre (12 Alexander St: 12pm – 5pm), The Theatre Centre (1115 Queen St W: 10am – 5pm) and Obsidian Theatre (1089 Dundas St E: 10am – 5pm). Each donation shared via Twitter tagging Obsidian (@obsidiantheatre) and using the hashtag #OTUPGRADE will be entered to win one of two pairs of tickets to the show!
Winners will be announced via Twitter throughout the first week of February.
Opening on February 14, 2016 Venus’ Daughter brings to light the many challenges faced by today’s woman, including the obsession with the female form. It celebrates lives lived by strong women in a fast-paced, comedic story created by 2013/2014 Development Series participant Meghan Swaby.
Tickets to the world premiere of Venus’ Daughter can be purchased via email at boxoffice@theathrecenter.org or by calling 416.538.0988.
