Lost & Found Theatre is delighted to announce the cast for its Christmas mainstage production. Charles Dickens Writes A Christmas Carol has been performed in the region many times as a staged reading with music, but this will be its professional world-premiere.
“With a cast of 19 this is Lost & Found’s biggest production yet. We have had such a strong response to this piece from the region as a staged reading that the timing felt right for its world-premiere. Many of the actors have therefore worked with this script before, and we are delighted to welcome Gareth and Vince to the team for the first time,” says Richard Quesnel, playwright and director of the piece.
Gareth Potter, who is finishing his 12th season at the Stratford Festival, has lived in Kitchener for three years, but this will be his first time performing in the region. In his tenure at Stratford he has performed many great roles including: Hosanna in Hosanna, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Edgar in King Lear, Gratiano in The Merchant of Venice, and Don John in Much Ado About Nothing. He will return to Stratford for his 13th season next year, performing in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Aeneid. Potter has played Dickens in a different version of the classic story before – he is delighted to be bringing him to life again with Quesnel’s twist on the tale this December.
Vince Carlin, an Oakville based actor, will be playing the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Carlin is new to KW Region, but has performed throughout the GTA, and at Theatre New Brunswick. He has also appeared on CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries. Carlin is delighted to be playing Scrooge for the first time this December.
Canadian theatre icon Ted Follows will join the cast as Jacob Marley. Follows was a founding member of Neptune Theatre and has performed with major theatre companies across Canada including: the Stratford Festival, Theatre New Brunswick, and Theatre Aquarius. His daughter, Megan, is a renowned actor in Toronto and Los Angeles having started her career in CBC’s Anne of Green Gables. Follows has performed in a staged reading of this production before, and Lost & Found is delighted to have him back.
Christy Ziss, Kathleen Sheehy, and Hannah Ziss, Lost & Found Theatre ensemble members, along with local actors and singers, will round out the cast. Richard Quesnel will direct and Reid Spencer will provide musical direction.
Dickens runs from Dec. 2-12 at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets are on sale now at www.lostandfoundtheatre.com.
