Toronto, ON - December 22, 2015: Albert Schultz, Founding Artistic Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company, today announced the schedule for Winter Waves, free family programming as part of the second annual Soulpepper Family Festival. Winter Waves gives visitors to the Young Centre the opportunity to explore Soulpepper’s interactive spaces and enjoy a wide range of fun, free, and creative activities and performances. Relax with Bedtime Stories read by artists, explore themed playrooms, and listen to original miniature Soulpepper concerts: it’s music, theatre and interactive fun for the whole family to enjoy before school resumes! Free events at Winter Waves run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on January 2 and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on January 3 at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts in the Distillery Historic District. Winter Waves will feature performances and curation by Soulpepper Resident Artists and special guests, including: Waleed Abdulhamid; Colleen Allen; Derek Boyes; Alana Bridgewater; Leah Cherniak; David Cox; Anahita Dehbonehie; Oliver Dennis; Dennis Lee; Ken MacKenzie; John Millard; Miranda Mulholland; Gregory Oh; Jon Drops Reid; Mike Ross; Suba Sankaran; Brendan Wall; William Webster; and Lowell Whitty.
Soulpepper’s Family Festival also includes ticketed performances, on stage through to January 3 unless otherwise noted. At the Young Centre (50 Tank House Lane), continuing Family Festival programming includes: Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol adapted by Michael Shamata; Tricks from master magician David Ben (new show added Jan. 2); Alligator Pie, with poems by Dennis Lee and an all new cast of Soulpepper Academy graduates; and A Very Soulpepper Christmas Concert (Dec. 23 & 26).
Festival programming at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts (27 Front. St. E) includes Ins Choi’s hit play Kim’s Convenience now extended to January 3, and the romantic holiday classic Parfumerie by Miklós László adapted by Adam Pettle and Brenda Robins (until Dec. 27).

Bedtime Stories: Curl up for an intimate bedtime-inspired song, poem, or performance. Featuring readings by rotating artists, including: Waleed Abdulhamid; Leah Cherniak; Oliver Dennis; Dennis Lee; Ken MacKenzie; John Millard; Miranda Mulholland; Gregory Oh; Suba Sankaran; and William Webster.
Playrooms: Interactive environments designed for families to explore, experience and enjoy. Go ahead and play with Lights, Sounds, and yes…bubble wrap! Spend as much or as little time in any of these spaces as you like! Join the fun in the Theatre Play Room, the Bubble Wrap Room, and under The Canopy of Connection.
Virtuosic Toronto: In this Soulpepper favourite, film, sound and live performance capture an unforgettable portrait of Toronto. Featuring performances by: Waleed Abdulhamid; David Cox; John Millard; Miranda Mulholland; Gregory Oh; and Jon Drops Reid
Wee Concerts: Sing along as Soulpepper Artists present a rotating program of concerts the whole family will enjoy. Featuring performances by: Alana Bridgewater; Miranda Mulholland; Mike Ross; Suba Sankaran; Brendan Wall; and Lowell Whitty.
The 2015 Family Festival is sponsored by CIBC with additional support provided by the Young/Schultz Venture Fund, the Province of Ontario, and the Ontario Cultural Attraction Fund.

Family Festival Ticket Prices: Alligator Pie tickets are $35 and $45/StagePlay, Rush and Arts Worker are $20; Tricks tickets range from $69 to $25/StagePlay, Rush, Arts Worker $20; 4-Ticket Family Packages start at $91.50 (based on Section C seating).
Tickets for additional Family Festival Soulpepper productions range from $89 to $29.50. For Main Stage productions, $24 tickets are available for Arts Workers and $24 tickets are available for 21-30 year-olds at stageplay.ca. StagePlay is sponsored by TD Bank Group. The $24 Rush Ticket / $5 Youth Rush program is sponsored by Sun Life Financial. Ticket prices include a Young Centre facility fee, service charge and HST. Pricing is subject to change.
