Toronto, Ontario - The Next Stage Theatre Festival (NSTF) is Toronto’s premiere winter theatre event. Presented by the Toronto Fringe, the curated NSTF offers Fringe Festival artists the opportunity to bring their work to the next level. The 2016 Next Stage Theatre Festival runs from January 6 – 17, 2016 at the Factory Theatre.
This year’s festival plays host to the largest artist contingency in the festival’s history. Not only are the casts large, but they are stacked with some of the finest actors the city has to offer.
Mockingbird by Rob Kempson features:
Beau Dixon: A multi-award winning actor, musician and playwright who has performed with Crow’s Theatre, Canadian Stage, Alberta Theatre Projects and 4th Line Theatre
Esther Jun: Originated the role of Janet in Soulpepper’s Kim’s Convenience
Andrew Moodie: A celebrated Toronto actor, director and playwright. Mr. Moodie received a Chalmers Award for his play Riot and a Dora Award for his performance in The Health Class (Roseneath Theatre)
Heart of Steel by Wesley J Colford features:
Greg Campbell: A multi Dora nominated actor for his work with VideoCabaret, Mr. Campbell has also performed with The Tarragon Theatre and The Globe Theatre
Richard Lam: Is a graduate of the Soulpepper Academy and is now a member of the company. He has also worked with some of Toronto’s finest Independent Companies, including: Coal Mine Theatre and Outside the March.
Eliza Jane Scott: A musical theatre fixture has performed with Soulpepper, Theatre 20, Acting UP Stage and the National Arts Centre.
Jan Smith: Ms. Smith has had a celebrated 30 year career. She has graced the stages of Charlottetown through to Vancouver in establishments such as: The Shaw Festival, Citadel Theatre, Theatre Calgary and the Royal Alex.
Agamemnon by Nicolas Billon features:
Nigel Shawn Williams: Is the Associate Artistic Director of Factory Theatre. He is a four time Dora Award winner as an actor and director. He has worked for companies such as The Shaw Festival, Stratford Festival, Canadian Stage Company and Obsidian Theatre Company.
Amy Keating: A Dora-nominated actor and founding member of the celebrated Indie company, Outside the March. Ms. Keating recently performed in Tarragon Theatre’s Wormwood.
Brigit Wilson: Ms. Wilson has spent 11 seasons with The Stratford Festival. She has also performed for The Grand Theatre, Theatre Calgary, The Blyth Festival, the Segal Centre and Mirvish Productions.
Ron Kennell: Mr. Kennell is a prolific Toronto based actor. He has performed with The Stratford Festival, The NAC, Buddies in Bad Times and Canadian Stage Company. In April of 2016 he will be performing with Modern Times at the Theatre Centre.
