What do a genial if crass green ogre named Shrek and Kimberly, a teenage girl in a 65 year old body have in common?
David Lindsay-Abaire.
Lindsay-Abaire was nominated for two Tonys for his work on Shrek the Musical. He com- bines award-winning prowess both as a musical theatre lyricist and a serious dramatist. He received the Pulitzer for his play Rabbit Hole.
Lost&Found Theatre will present Kimberly Akimbo in March at the Registry Theatre.
Kimberly is just turning 16, but her body is much older. She has a progeria-like disease that has a relentless hold on the fast-forward button of her life. Add to that a wildly dysfunctional family that has no clue how to cope with any difficulty, much less a terminally-ill daughter, and it’s no wonder Kimberly asks, “Can we just be normal for a few minutes?” When nerdy classmate Jeff asks if he can write about her disease for a biology assignment, Kimberly’s life takes a turn that is both wonderful and terrifying.
