CAMBRIDGE – Lions, and tigers, and munchkins, oh my! As part of Drayton Entertainment’s audience development program, 35 local children have been chosen to go ‘over the rainbow’ and embark on a magical adventure down the yellow brick road alongside professional performers in the theatre company’s much-anticipated production of The Wizard of Oz at the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge on stage March 4th to March 29th.
“There is an outstanding wealth of young talent in this community,” says Alex Mustakas, Artistic Director of Drayton Entertainment. “We are delighted to give these aspiring performers the chance to be on stage and learn from the professional company.”
Nearly 300 munchkin hopefuls attended an open call last month. Further to the professional cast announcement made last week including AJ Bridel as Dorothy, Jamie McKnight as the Scarecrow, Mike Jackson as the Tin Man, Nick Settimi as the Cowardly Lion and Drayton Entertainment favourite Jackie Mustakas as the Wicked Witch of the West, the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge is pleased to announce the following youth performers divided into three teams:

Drayton Entertainment is also proud to announce the casting of the cute canine set to fill the paw-prints of Dorothy’s beloved best friend Toto. Flynn, a Shorkie (Shih Tzu-Yorkie cross) rescue pup, is thrilled to be making his stage debut. Flynn is a genuine, friendly pooch with all the energy and star-potential required for the demanding doggie-role. Trained by Jessica Croezen of Impressive Canines in Kitchener, Flynn is ready to take centre stage as one of the most adored dogs in film and stage history.
The Wizard of Oz is the enchanting stage adaption of the 1939 Hollywood film. Considered the greatest family musical of all time, The Wizard of Oz is the beloved tale of Dorothy Gale who, after a twister hits her Kansas home, is transported somewhere over the rainbow. She embarks on an epic journey to meet the Wizard accompanied by a Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and her faithful dog Toto.

Don’t miss your chance to follow the yellow brick road – tickets for The Wizard of Oz are over 80% sold out and theatregoers are encouraged to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Tickets are $42 for adults and $25 for Youth under 20 years of age. Tickets for groups of 20 or more are $34. HST is applicable to all ticket prices.
