Toronto, ON – February 24, 2015 – Connecticut’s indie folk band, Parsonsfield, has been spending a lot of time up in our neck of the woods. The feisty five-piece Americana band has been an integral part of The Heart Of Robin Hood, the hit play that has been playing to packed houses at The Royal Alexandra Theatre. Their songs and music provide commentary and set the tone for this raucous and unique romp that re-imagines the legendary tale in unexpected ways. The show plays until March 29th.
The show has made converts of many of the city’s theatre patrons to Parsonsfield fans. Eager to play more for their growing Toronto fanbase, Parsonsfield will perform an intimate concert at The Drake Underground on March 8th (full ticket information – here).
“…All of this would be enough to make the evening an occasion for sheer delight, but then – totally out of left field – comes the music of Parsonsfield, an eclectic American band which happily mingles bluegrass, folk, jazz, and anything else that comes to mind” – Toronto Star (4 out of 4 STARS)
Parsonsfield – Chris Freeman (vocals, banjo), Antonio Alcorn (mandolin), Max Shakun (vocals, pump organ, guitar), Harrison Goodale (bass), Erik Hischmann (drums) – has toured steadily since their debut in 2010. In 2013 they recorded their debut album, Poor Old Shine, which can be purchased online or at shows. The album was produced by Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive, Del Barber).
“They harmonize; they play saws, mandolins and pump organs; they back their songs with crickets and squeaking screen doors; they are boisterously youthful yet deftly sentimental. The album, which reaches back to traditional roots music with modern-day zest, was very richly produced to great effect by Sam Kassirer… I fully expect to hear more from this band as the years go on”
