TORONTO—The Alumnae Theatre’s New Ideas Festival is an annual, three-week, juried festival of new writing, works-in-progress and experimental theatre, with a different program of plays each week and staged readings on Saturdays at noon. The 2015 festival takes place in the Studio at Alumnae Theatre and runs from March 11 to 29, 2015.
This year's festival features fifteen new works, ranging in length from ten to sixty minutes. Human connection in our digital world of cell phones, blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and online dating is a predominant theme. The eclectic mix of characters includes the perfect mate, a troubled civil servant, two elderly would-be sleuths, a Tamil refugee, and last but not least, Prometheus and sandworms!
