March 16, 2015... This year’s Shakespeare Slam will transform the University of Waterloo’s Stratford Campus into a hip party featuring spectacular performances and stimulating dialogue with leading social and cultural figures including Jordan Banks, Anthony Lacavera, Heather Moyse, Susan Ormiston and DJ L’Oqenz. The celebration will take place on Thursday, April 23, marking Shakespeare’s 451st birthday and the launch of this season’s Stratford Festival Forum.
To start the evening, Jordan Banks, global head of vertical strategy and managing director of Facebook Canada, will lead a scintillating discussion with a group of panelists he has personally selected for their riveting thoughts and entertaining communication style. They include Chairman and CEO of the Globalive Group and Wind Mobile Anthony Lacavera, two-time Olympic gold medalist Heather Moyse and award-winning CBC senior correspondent Susan Ormiston.
Spirited performances will take place throughout the evening, including interactive live performances by Festival company members that will reinvent our repertoire. Toronto’s DJ L’Oqenz, the DJ who taught Prince Charles how to spin on his most recent visit to Canada, will keep the party going with her distinctive skills on the turntables, effortlessly fusing classic tunes and contemporary beats.
The Shakespeare Slam will be held at the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus, 125 Patrick Street, Stratford. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The Shakespeare Slam is the first event of the 2015 Stratford Festival Forum which will present more than 200 events this season, including featured speakers Margaret Atwood, Naheed Nenshi, Raymond Laflamme and Adrienne Clarkson, as well as fascinating talks, interactive events, concerts, comedy shows and performances exploring the playbill and the theme of Discovery: That Eureka Moment.
