Toronto, ON – La Semaine de la Francophonie, Toronto’s premiere annual Francophone festival of arts and culture, celebrates its 15th anniversary with eight days of music, theatre, visual art, film, and food.
Stage events will be featured throughout the week starting with a free presentation of the children’s production Pinocchio dans ma valise (Pinocchio and Me), a Prologue aux arts de la scène presentation. Toronto’s Production 88 will be presenting Hit and Run where three playwrights and 15 actors will have 24 hours to create three unique short plays. And, open mic fans will have the opportunity to express themselves, en français, at Franc'Open Mic, Toronto’s first French open mic event.
Semaine de la Francophonie Stage line-up:
Pinocchio and Me (Pinocchio dans ma valise)
Musical theatre and puppetry infusing life into a classic tale
With a delightful narrative, endearing props pulled from a mysterious suitcase by Pier Rodier, and evocative live musical accompaniment by Pierre-Luc Clément, Cie Vox Théâtre enchants young audiences with its modern day rendition of the classic tale of the wooden puppet who wants to become a real boy. Like its classic counterparts, Pinocchio and Me explores childhood fears, self-discovery, and the choices that we all face.

The numerous artistic influences, which have nourished the creativity of its members over the years, infuse their works with the performing arts of voice, mask, music and puppetry, with a taste for ecological art.
