The Province of Ontario announced its support to over 270 local festivals and events to help drive tourism, support jobs and generate economic activity. This support will help festivals and events across the province enhance their programming and services to attract new audiences, increase visitor spending and create jobs.
106 Festivals & Events Ontario (FEO) members, including the Stratford Festival (Stratford), the Sound of Music (Burlington) and the Redpath Waterfront Festival (Toronto) will be sharing over $8-million as a part of the $19-million 2015/2016 Celebrate Ontario program.
“Festivals and events are important economic engines within the tourism industry and people should know how important they are to the growth and quality of life within each community across the entire region." said Kathrin Delutis, Chief Executive Officer, Festivals & Events Ontario. "Advocacy is one of FEO’s mandates and FEO continues to work on behalf of it's members interests and will continue to lobby the government for sustainable support for the festival and event industry."
