Tango Soul presents Cindy Lou Johnson's “Brilliant Traces,” a quirky story of two strangers in free fall who stumble together on a journey of discovery and healing. Directed by Marianne McIsaac, featuring Faye Lavin (Tango Soul) and Daniel Chapman-Smith (Project Humanity), at the Ryerson Abrams Studio Theatre, 44 Gerrard St. E., May 14-23rd, 2015.
Struggling with a deep trauma, Henry Harry (Daniel Chapman-Smith) has retreated to a life of solitude in the middle of the Alaskan Nowhere. As a blizzard whites out the wilderness, runaway bride Rosannah Deluce (Faye Lavin) breaks his isolation, propelled by an intense crisis of her own. Forced to wait out the storm together, they must decide if they dare to share their scars, or if they will remain closed, locked in, and safe from the painful process of healing.
“Brilliant Traces” is the first play produced by the Argentinian tango company, Tango Soul. Faye Lavin and Daniel Chapman-Smith met through the Toronto tango community, and discovered that they both had a deep admiration for Johnson’s play. Knowing that the play was a long time favourite of Marianne McIsaac, they signed her on to direct, and pulled together a team of emerging artists to produce this project of passion.
