This 17th Century period piece is a stylistic blend of Dario Fo and Alfred Jarry. Though set in the distant past the message is a familiar and contemporary one: "Let's kill all the artists!" Outside the medieval city of Berne two starving street performers struggle to survive hunger and war. The ancient festival of Fasnacht is fast approaching. Will these two sassy schtickmeisters live to see it?
War of the Clowns is written by Dora Mavor Moore award winning playwright Mark Brownell. Directed by the much celebrated multi-Dora nominated Sue Miner. A magnificent cast featuring: Hume Baugh, David Fraser, Mark Ingram, James Kirchner, Richard Lee, and percussionist Greg Samek. Period costumes by the multi-award winning Nina Okens. Basel masks designed by celebrated muppeteer Trish Leeper.
