Toronto, ON – Everybody’s idea of adventure is different; Toronto’s largest theatre festival caters to people’s eclectic tastes with 1,100+ fresh, innovative and often jaw dropping performances! Choose Your Own Adventure denotes the ability to craft your own experience from a diverse list of theatre, comedy and dance performances, venues, Tent Talks, Visual Fringe, Shed Shows and Fringe After Dark programming. Once again, it’s a call to action for diehard theatre fans and first time Fringers alike. It’s seldom that you come across a festival with 148 shows to choose from, all for a maximum ticket price of $12!
This year’s line-up consists of over 60 comedy shows, 14 dance and physical theatre shows, 30 dramas, 13 musicals, 20 national and 12 international companies hailing from cities such as Tokyo, Glasgow, Melbourne, Limerick and Oakland. Expect Fringe favourites such as The Untitled Sam Mullins Project, Morro and Jasp do Puberty and Graham Clark Reads the Phone Book. From the writer/performer who brought you last year's hit show SLUT, Erin Thompson is back with Meet Cute; a "romantic" comedy about boy-meets-girl, girl-meets-boy. High Tea is back with “Britain’s beloved comedy duo” and 10-time Best of Fest winners James & Jamesy and Rebecca Perry brings us Part 2 of the Adventures of a Red Headed Coffee Shop Girl.
After their previous Fringe success with Nursery School Musical, witty writing duo Brett McCaig and Anthony Bastianon explore relationships in a world of technology and social media through song cycle with I’m Right Here. Similarly in theme, one of Canada top comedians, Gavin Crawford, examines our love/hate relationship with social media with "Friend" "Like" #Me. Multiple Canadian Comedy Award recipients grace our stages with the hilarious Peter n' Chris present: Here Lies Chris and God's Beard! (The Only Sketch Show That Has Ever Happened). Twice nominated comedian, Rhiannon Archer, presents her solo show Life Records and after a wildly successful “Things That Black Girls Say”, Zabrina Chevannes is back with A Nurse’s Worst Nightmare.
This year, catch one of our 15 site specific productions in unexpected locations such as a boxing gym, a yoga studio, a synagogue and even a vintage clothing store in Kensington Market! The Dinner Table invites12 guests and 2 storytellers per night into a kitchen to share one home cooked meal while Bout by Stephanie Carpanini invites you to step inside Sully’s Boxing Gym and explore the life of a willful wannabe fighter. Site specifics also feature the wildly successful Plays in Cafés with real life couple Shelly and Frank, and Best of Fringe winners are at the Victory Café with Shakespeare BASH’d performing The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Families should note our brand new FringeKids! Festival venue at The George Ignatieff Theatre (15 Devonshire Place). Performances from 9 companies begin July 1 and the FringeKids! Club right beside the theatre is open July 2- 12, 10:00am – 5:00pm with free outdoor concerts, workshops, creative play stations and a bouncy castle on the weekends!

The Toronto Fringe
Now celebrating its 27th year, the Toronto Fringe provides creative opportunities for artists and audiences by producing two important festivals – the Toronto Fringe Festival and the Next Stage Theatre Festival – and by running outreach activities that benefit youth, artists and the theatre community at large. In 2014, the Toronto Fringe launched a national crowdfunding platform for indie artists, called Fund What You Can (FWYC). Our home, the Fringe Creation Lab, welcomes independent artists year round, encouraging their creative work by offering them affordable space to make art, congregate and innovate.
