An official commission of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games arts and culture festival, PANAMANIA presented by CIBC, we are delighted to announce our newest production this July:
Gimme Shelter by Ravi Jain.
Upon learning of the staggering statistics of people who will be displaced because of the rising sea levels caused by climate change, theatre artist Ravi Jain found himself asking: what can I do? Inspired by the ancient text of the great Indian epic: the Mahabharata, Gimme Shelter questions our responsibility to action when facing problems that seem too big solve. Along the way, Ravi goes on a journey fighting the ultimate battle, one against his own ego.
Seamlessly integrating traditional storytelling, Eastern sounds and stunning multimedia spectacle, our world class team (L to R above) includes award winning NY based director Jenny Koons, original music by tabla sensation Gurpreet Channa with sound design by Nicolas Murray of the indie band LAL, projection designs by David Leclerc, set and costumes by Soulpepper resident artist Ken MacKenzie and lighting by multiple Dora award winning designer Kim Purtell.
Opens July 13th at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts
Tickets start as low as $20 - for a very limited run!
Co-presented by Why Not Theatre and PANAMANIA presented by CIBC, in association with Soulpepper Theatre Company.
